Eagles, Deer and a Shot Up Car

The dumping of garbage in the forest near Coyote and Cabin Buttes is absolutely inexcusable. The OHV drivers and hunters are the biggest users of these part of the forest and they should step up their clean up efforts.

Last Chair on Rainbow with 8" of Fresh

Eight inches fell during the day today, Seth pointed out some handy hike photo ops below the Rainbow get back traverse. No photos today but the snow was excellent and we ran Rainbow laps pretty much to ourselves. The sky is clear for the moment(12:30am), First chair in the morning could bring bluebird pow though it seems more precip could arrive by sunrise.

4 Inches of Cream

Nice dense layer made the whole mountain skiable with a real smooth surface out in the open areas. Light skier turn out and a 9:15 opening of NWX made for a great day. Not too many photos today, couple on Devils Backbone and down in the trees NW. Fired another email to Bachelor lobbying for the photo and video gallery page.

Video Content for Bachelor

A couple blog entries on Bachelor's site are suggesting a photo and video gallery page. I wonder why they even hesitate....

These were shot with a viosport 3 and a Sony HC32:

The wind was howling out of the east scouring much of the mountain. the trees were wtill great but above that was boiler plate. Three screws blew in my left toepeice on Devil's Backbone. The Cookie Cam and I come through feelin' pretty lucky.

Windy Dog Walk with Rainbows

The weather man didn't serve up any powder on the mountain but the rain made for some nice shooting in the desert.

Macro Embers with a Storm Rollin' In

Tried out a new tripod from Ritz Camera, super light with a uni-ball mount. It had a little wobble, but for the weight it's great. These exposures ran around 3 seconds and are showing good detail.

Snow Pack Reboot!

Just Enough Snow and Wind to make the whole mountain ski well. I shot using a flash in the trees giving the snow and the skier more punch. In the afternoon Ellen and Gstaad having finished their training gave me a chance to photograph them in a relaxed mode.

Rain and Snow in the Woods

Walking around the base of Cabin Butte I noticed this dear carcass with an interesting shape and a central rib that had an eye catching break. Drawing the eye just off center of the pine tree worked well too.

Dust on Crust and a Cloud Break

Nicer turns than expected considering 1/2 inch of new. Got a nice view of South Sister for a couple minutes, barely got a shot off and I should have come around to show the sketchy landing.

Fall Sunset at Horse Butte

Beautiful pink clouds this evening backdropped Horse Butte which was nicely silhouetted by the south-setting sun. The equine candid imparts an expresive calm. There was other interesting silhouettes and sap to photograph as well.
